Two stunning goals in the space of a minute gave Wealdstone a 2-0 win over in-form Windsor and Eton, cementing their third place in Division Two.
After a tight first-half, Stones dominated the second period and went ahead after 67 minute.
Brian Jones collected the ball on the edge of his own area, sprinted down the midle of the pitch, swerved to his right past a tackle and then unleased a ferocious 20-yard drive.
Within 60 seconds full-back Dominic Sterling carried the ball from deep in his own half, collected a return pass from Simon Garner some 25 yards out and hit an unstoppable low drive which flew in off the base of the post.
On Saturday, they had earned a point against table-toppers, the unbeaten Braintree.
Stones made all the early chances but the Essex side went ahead five minutes before the break when Mayes hit a free kick which Darren Bonfield was unable to collect and it went in off his knee.
Stones continued to push in an effort to keep their promotion quest on track and got a deserved equaliser on the hour.
Paul Lamb set up Garner and he was able to hit home his 12th goal of the season.
