Aldershot Town 4 Wealdstone FC 1
It was to be a fantastic final game of 2025 for Aldershot Town this evening, with The Shots running out as comprehensive 4-1 victors against Wealdstone FC at The EBB Stadium on Tuesday evening.
James Henry opened the scoring in the first minute, before Josh Barrett double Aldershot Town’s lead just 10 minutes later.
Wealdstone halved the deficit midway through a thrilling first half, before Charlie Warren got his first for the club late in the first 45 to restore Aldershot Town’s two-goal advantage.
Captain Ryan Hill rounded off the evening’s goal scoring with a well-taken penalty midway through the second half to round off an extremely positive evening for The Shots, who continue their strong run of recent form.
It was an unchanged side that started this evening’s fixture from the Boxing Day away draw to Sutton just four days ago, with the Shots looking to kick on from a positive recent run of form.
Aldershot Town were flying out of the gates on a chilly evening at The EBB Stadium, with a slick move down the left-hand side seeing the ball fall to an arriving James Henry in the Wealdstone penalty area, to slot home first time and give Shots the lead less than a minute in.
It wasn’t long before that Aldershot Town lead was doubled, with Josh Barrett creating another moment of magic with an audacious 20-yard lob to find himself on the scoresheet 10 minutes later.
Barrett was almost able to bag himself a quickfire brace, but his drilled effort just inside the Wealdstone penalty area was held by Davie-Astor Baptiste, with Aldershot Town hoping to extend their lead further.
However, Wealdstone did manage to pull a goal back midway through the first half, as a Jack Cook header from a wide set-piece gave the visitors a goal to try and get back into the game.
But it was to be a first half that Aldershot Town were superior in, with Charlie Warren slotting home his first goal for the club after arriving on loan from Bolton Wanderers with another neat Shots move resulting in a well-taken finish.
A clever first-time pass from Theo Widdrington released Josh Barrett down the right of the Wealdstone penalty area, who in turn, squared the ball across for Warren to poke home from close range and restore Aldershot Town’s two-goal lead going into the half-time break.
Half-time: Aldershot Town 3 Wealdstone FC 1
The second half didn’t see as much goalmouth action as was in the first half, but it was an opening to the second 45 which Aldershot Town looked to control and ensure any initial pressure in response from Wealdstone was nullified.
A couple of second half introductions freshened up John Coleman’s side, with the arrivals of Cameron Hargreaves and Ryan Jones for goalscorer James Henry and the enforced change of Dejan Tetek, with Aldershot Town continuing to uphold their two-goal lead in the second half.
Instead, Aldershot Town saw out initial pressure from Wealdstone in the second half and were able to then extend their lead from the penalty spot, with captain Ryan Hill slotting home from 12 yards to give The Shots their fourth goal of the evening.
Wealdstone applied some late pressure on the Aldershot Town goal in the final 10 minutes of the game, but as The Shots saw out the threat, ultimately it was a performance which Shots will take plenty of positives from going into their first game of 2026 against Solihull Moors back at The EBB Stadium.
