Morecambe FC secured a well deserved three points in a dramatic 4-3 win over Wealdstone FC.

It was the perfect start to proceedings for the Shrimps as Jack Nolan fired Morecambe ahead in just the fifth minute of the game.

Ben Tollitt released the ball to Nolan who cut inside before placing it in the top corner with ease.

Five minutes later, with the visitors looking for a response Phil Chinedo took aim with a bicycle kick, but it was comfortably held by Archie Mair.

With Morecambe back in possession, there was some lovely link up play between Nolan and Jake Cain, which resulted in our number 10 forcing Dante Baptiste into a save with his low drive.

On the 15 minute mark, the home side continued to apply the pressure as Mo Sangare charged towards the box and looked to play through Admiral Muskwe but there was too much on his pass.

Minutes later, at the other end of the pitch, a Wealdstone free-kick was sent into the mix and punched away by Mair but only as far as Deon Woodman whose following effort was hit wide.

The next 20 minutes saw both sides in possession of the ball but the next notable effort saw Nolan look to slot his effort in at close range, but it was pushed away by the visiting goalkeeper.

However; that did not stop the Shrimps as Lewis Payne found Elijah Dixon-Bonner who made no mistake in finding the back of the net on his debut.

Having doubled their lead, Morecambe were not stopping there as they went on the attack again. A magnificent pass by Jake Cain played through Muskwe and his strike made it three for the Shrimps and three goals in two for our number 11.

Just before the end of the half, Wealdstone managed to pull one back through Max Kretzschmar.

Half-time: Morecambe FC 3-1 Wealdstone FC

Moments into the second half, Morecambe came close to extending their lead once again through Ben Tollitt who glided past his man before hitting an effort goalward but it was parried over by Baptiste.

10 minutes later, Wealdstone looked to attack from their corner kick but Maldini Kacurri rose highest to clear the danger.

As the second half continued Ashvir Singh Johal’s men were playing some lovely football as Nolan sent a searching cross that bounced all the way through to hit the post.

Three minutes after, Payne played a great ball over the top and into the path of Cain, who layed it off to Muskwe but he couldn’t quote get his shot on target.

With 15 minutes left to play, Wealdstone managed to get another one back through Jack Cook.

In the 80th minute, Alfie Massey found an equaliser for the visitors.

Despite the visitors finding the leveller, the Shrimps refused to be counted out and it was another debutant goal but this time for Emmerson Sutton who made sure the initial shot crossed the line.
