There were no fireworks on the pitch as Wealdstone eased past a less than full strength Enfield side at the White Lion Ground on Tuesday.
Enfield were on the back foot for long periods during the first half and at times their defending was comical, but they did test Andy Carter on a couple of occasions through McDonald and Woolcock and also Turner, Doherty and Hassan were only just off target.
But most of the action was at the other end and Beckford in particular was proving difficult to contain.
Just when the home crowd were having first thoughts about whether Enfield could hold out until half time, the goal came. Simple in execution, James Fisher’s cross from the right after 32 minutes was headed past keeper Kalli from close range by Beckford.
The second half followed in a similar vein; profligate finishing from Wealdstone and occasional breakaways from Enfield. Again only one goal was scored.
On the hour Martin Carter picked up a loose ball on the edge of the area, put Doherty onto his backside with an outrageous dummy, before coolly slotting the ball past Kalli to take the spoils for Wealdstone.
