The Dons started well, with Aaron Nemane earning his side a corner after just five minutes. The resulting set-piece found its way to Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, who then saw his powerful strike well blocked by a Wealdstone defender.
Moments later, Callum Hendry did brilliantly well to hold off his marker and get a shot away in the area, but Stones ‘keeper Dante Baptiste was equal to it.
Wealdstone had a chance of their own not long afterwards, with Connal Trueman making a good stop down to his right to deny a headed effort.
In the 21st minute, Weladstone had their best chance of the game so far with two quick-fire shots on the edge of the area, but Nathan Thompson pulled off a heroic double block to keep the Stones out.
Five minutes later, Simone Troso was unlucky not to score! The young midfielder had a fantastic strike from the edge of the area, producing a brilliant save from Dante Baptiste.
With ten minutes until half-time, Wealdstone took the lead. Junior Tiensia did well to strike the ball on the half-volley and fire home to give the Stones the advantage. 0-1
The Dons had chances before the interval through Rushian Hepburn-Murphy and Aaron Nemane, but couldn’t break down a compact Wealdstone defence.
MK went in 1-0 down following a competitive half in Northwest London.
Second Half
MK Dons started the second half with a lovely effort from Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, with the winger cutting in and releasing a curling effort which Wealdstone’s goalkeeper did well to save.
Five minutes later, Dante Baptiste pulled off an unbelievable reaction save to deny Callum Hendry, with the striker’s powerful strike looking destined to nestle in the top corner.
Midway through the half, MK Dons were forced into a change after a strong tackle on Nathan Thompson, with the defender eventually replaced by Keon Lewis-Burgess.
A few minutes later, Wealdstone doubled their lead. Anthony Georgiou powering home from close range. 0-2
Wealdstone had a chance for a third with ten minutes to play, letting fire with a curling strike from the edge of the box, but Connal Trueman got behind it to make a smart stop.
Not long afterwards, Richie Barker made another change, with Chase Medwynter coming on for Callum Hendry.
Dante Baptiste was having a brilliant game for Wealdstone. The ‘keeper getting down low to his right to deny Rushian Hepburn-Murphy from close range.
