Wealdstone eased through to the final of the Middlesex Charity cup after a comfortable 3-0 win over Zamaretto Division 1 side North Greenford United on Thursday evening.

Playing with a strong wind behind them in the first half, it was Stones who got off to a flyer when after 12 minutes Peter Martin threaded a through ball to Peter Dean who beat the offside trap and fired a superb half volley into the top corner.

They then doubled their advantage eight minutes later when young winger Eddie Adjei showed a neat turn of pace to beat Greenford fullback Danny Clerkin before side footing the ball into the far corner.

Wealdstone were knocking the ball around with ease and Kurtney Brooks had a powerful effort blocked by ‘keeper Gary Jallow as they pressed forward looking for a third.

They got their reward in the 25th minute, when Brooks put Dean through who slotted home his second of the night and Wealdstone’s third.

Dean then had the chance to claim his hatrick five minutes before half time; however his curling effort from the edge of the box flew just wide.

The second half began with Callum Martin heading just over for Stones, before Greenford registered their first effort on target; a free kick which was easily gathered by Sean Thomas.

Wealdstone seemed to take their foot off the gas as the half went on, posing little attacking threat although their backline remained untroubled by the Greenford forwards.

Peter Dean was desperately trying to seal his hat-trick and he had two good chances midway through the half, first of all being denied by a great last ditch challenge from Nick Turner, and then rolling the ball into the net after being flagged offside when he was seemingly level.

With the game petering out, there was a surprise substitution on 80 minutes, with regular goalkeeper Jonathan North coming on in midfield in place of Danny Spendlove, much to the delight of the Stones contingent who can now look forward to the final which will be played at Hayes and Yeading FC in early May.

Wealdstone: Thomas, Hammond, Chappell (ñ), Parker, Locke (Duncan 63), Spendlove (North 80), P. Martin, Brooks, C. Martin, Dean, Adjei. Sub not used: Dyer
