And so it was as another less than inspiring match between two struggling teams resulted in a draw.

A brief snowstorm before the match caused more excitement than the first half an hour of this match as both sides struggled to create chances and when they did, poor finishing resulted in neither goalkeeper being called into action. Stones possibly had the better of the early exchanges, creating chances for Swaysland and Tilbury, and the best- a Hammatt free header – drifted well wide of the post.

As half time approached, both sides stepped up the pace and Swaysland and Scarlet both went close for Stones, while Jones and Geddis saw half chances cleared for Worthing.

The second half was better as play opened out somewhat but it was not until 61 minutes when Swaysland opened the scoring from the best move of the match. Scarlet and Carter combined well after initial work from Hunt, and a sweet ball from Carter found Swaysland on the edge of the box, his touch saw him cut inside and a powerful curling shot beat Wastell in the visitors goal.

Stones then seemed to sit back for a few minutes and allowed Worthing to dominate and there pressure resulted in an equaliser when the home defence failed to clear, Jones scrambling home the goal.

The remainder of the match saw both teams have chances to steal all three points, but a draw was a fair result in a poor match overall.
