Stones made a couple of changes with Carroll, Chappell, Rosboud and Sentence all starting, and wearing new ‘lucky’ Silver shirts with Black shorts and socks glistening under the floodlights, they progressed in the London Senior Cup with a 2-0 victory.

The first half was a midfield battle, both sides only really creating one significant chance as O’Leary saw his header cleared off the line, and Swift at the other end returned the compliment thwarting a Hendon attack – other than those opportunities, Hendon played the better football in front of a low crowd (that at least included some 15 or 20 vocal away fans) but with less effect than Wealdstone who had the greater possession.

The second half saw Stones a little more to the fore, and good reactions from Rosboud brought about the first goal on 61 minutes as the visiting keeper spilled a cross-shot, Stanic used strength to rob the defender on 12 yards before knocking the ball into the path of John Christian who shot low into the corner.

It wasn’t to be the Hendon ‘keepers night as he perhaps should have done better with Stones second goal some 10 minutes later, Papali beating him to a cross in the air and doing enough to see the ball over the line.

All in all a fairly comfortable win in the end and a clean sheet to boot….
