Despite a number of changes, Stones lacked much of a spark in this flat game, the only real period worth a mention, the five minutes before half time, which saw Barton take the lead when the ball broke to Barnes on the edge of the box and he drilled a shot into the corner of the net.

Two minutes later, Morgan was sent away by Hemmerdinger and having beaten the defence it seemed he had touched the ball too far on and the keeper was sure to collect, however Marvin’s outstretched leg was enough to chip the ball over the keeper – it hit the far post and went in off a defender as he attempted a clearance.

Two minutes more and Stones won a corner, swung in by Carter, the ball fell to Tucker on 12 yards and he blasted a shot into the top of the net to give Stones the lead and eventually the points.
