Match played at Rayners Lane FC

Stuart Maynard took his Wealdstone side to Rayners Lane on Saturday afternoon to face Bracknell Town. The last minute opponents are the first of six pre-season fixtures and follow on from Rayners Lane FC having to withdraw from the fixture due to being unable to field a side, but still offered to host the game for the Stones and their eleventh hour opponents.

The afternoons squads’ saw a number of familiar faces as well as a few trialists working towards a place within the squad.

Wealdstone lined up with a fairly familiar squad bar a couple of trialists, including one in goal following the midweek sale of stopper Sam Howes to League One Leyton Orient.

A fiery start from the Stones didn’t allow Bracknell much room for attack with an early effort from Tahvon Campbell going out for a corner. Then Max Kretzschmar played Trialist B through who put his shot just wide.

New signing Tahvon Campbell found himself through on goal, one on one with the keeper but after spending too much time on the ball the Bracknell defence was onto him and won back possession.

The Robins were first to break the deadlock in a great phase of play finished off by their forward finding the empty bottom left corner of the net.

Wealdstone found an equaliser seconds before half time as Campbell scored his first goal for the club on his signing day.

With plenty of half time changes made, Bracknell pounced on their chance and retook the lead with a determined finish.

Wealdstone equalised with an outstanding goal from a short corner, where Giovanni McGregor played in Tarryn Allarakhia who hit a rocket from the edge of the box into the top corner.

Allarakhia almost doubled his tally moments later after being played in by Olufela Olomola but the keeper was equal to his effort with a great save.

The winger, who was in top form on the afternoon was denied once again by the Bracknell keeper who denied his solo effort.

Then in injury time, Wealdstone finally found their winner. A corner in the final minute was played to Corie Andrews who played it to Jaydn Mundle-Smith who slotted it in behind the keeper.

Wealdstone return home for their next pre-season game against League Two side MK Dons on Tuesday evening, 7:45pm kick off.

WEALDSTONE: Trialist A, Hutchinson (Mundle-Smith 33), Trialist B (Charles 45), Cook (c) (Trialist E 44), Barker (Trialist F 45), Trialist C (Clayden 33), Ferguson (McGregor 45), Dyer (Obiero 45), Campbell (Allarakhia 45), Kretzschmar (Olomola 45), Trialist D (Andrews 45).
