Wealdstone suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Tamworth in a dramatic encounter that saw Connor McAvoy sent off and the hosts complete a comeback at the death.
Gary Waddock made just two changes to his starting line-up that suffered a narrow defeat to FC Halifax Town in midweek as Mason Barrett and Dan Chesters returned to the starting ranks.
After a cagey start, Wealdstone kicked into gear on the 10-minute mark as Kyle Smith launched a long throw that fell perfectly to Fela Olomola, who took his chance first time and smashed the ball into the net to give the Stones an early lead.
Minutes later, Tamworth went in search of an equaliser as Morgan Roberts’ free kick from the left picked out Nathan Tshikuna, but the ex-Stones man’s header looped over Baptiste’s crossbar.
The Wealdstone keeper was called into action in the 22nd minute, as Roberts unleashed a rocket from distance, but Baptiste remained alert and dealt with the danger comfortably.
As the clock ticked towards 30 minutes, Kyle Smith darted down the right and whipped a dangerous cross into Olomola, but the Stones striker couldn’t control the ball and was flagged offside. Unfortunately, Smith was injured in the process and was replaced by Tyrell Newton.
At the opposite end, Kieren Donnelly’s pressing caught Baptiste in possession, handing Roberts a clear sight of goal, but the Lambs forward skied the ball into the stands, leaving Wealdstone ahead at the break.
HALF TIME: Tamworth 0-1 Wealdstone
The hosts came out of the interval with intent, as Ben Milnes launched a dangerous corner kick that made its way to the centre of the box, but Baptiste got a strong hand to deter the danger.
Moments later, Tamworth threatened once more, as Milnes goal-bound free kick sparked a scramble in front of goal, with Roberts and Tshikuna both attempting to tap home, but somehow the ball was cleared off the line by the Stones defence.
Chaos ensued in the 67th minute, as Conor McAvoy lost possession and fouled Ryan Howley inside the box, conceding a penalty and receiving a red card. Tshikuna made no mistake from the spot, firing straight down the middle to level against his former club.
After the Stones were reduced to 10 men, the Lambs came knocking again as Ben Acquaye lashed a thunderous strike from the edge of the box, but Baptiste reacted sharply to keep his effort out.
Chesters went in search of a way back in front in the 82nd minute, delivering a teasing free kick into the box, but Jack Cook’s diving header narrowly missed the target.
With seven minutes added on, Tamworth continued to pile the pressure as Tom McGlinchey manoeuvred into space before drifting his shot just wide of Baptiste’s post.
In the game’s dying stages, Tom McGlinchey played square to substitute Jake Hutchinson, who smashed home to snatch all three points at the death.

Tamworth FCWebsite Match ReportHutchinson came off the bench to net the winner deep into second half added time After a tough week on the road, and defeats to promotion hopefuls Harrogate Town and Southend United, Andy Peaks squad returned home to the HD Ricketts Community Stadium at The Lamb. And they welcomed Gary Waddock’s Stone’s with three points separating the two sides in the bottom 6 of the table. Peaks made a number of changes to the starting eleven from midweek and was also without Dan Creaney out after sustaining a broken nose at Roots Hall. Wealdstone got the game underway and neither side could forge an opening the in first ten minutes of play, but when a cross came in from the left and The Lambs defence were unable to clear the danger, Olufela Olomola picked his spot from 12 yards leaving Jas Singh a mere spectator as it nestled in the corner (0-1, 10 mins)Tamworth tried to get back into the game quickly, with Nathan Tshikuna glancing Morgan Roberts freekick high over the target on 17 minutes. Roberts then placed a strong effort into the hands of Dante Baptiste five minutes later and Tyler Lyttle’s cross drifted just over the bar on 25 minutes. At the other end Aaron Henry picked his spot and met the ball sweetly but was off target with his effort from 25 yards, and Ben Milnes stuck a copy cat effort on 27 minutes, with the ball landing in Meadow Street. The Stone’s were forced into an early change when Kyle Smith went down under pressure but was unable to get back to his feet and when play resumed Milnes freekick caused problems in the visiting defence but no one could get a definitive touch to level the tie and Milnes was booked for playing through Olomola on the halfway line on 36 minutes.Keiren Donnelly nearly robbed the ball off the toes of Baptiste as he came out to clear it on 37 minutes and it rebounded and set up invitingly for Roberts to go for goal just outside the box but he was unable to keep his attempt down and cleared the target by some distance. Tamworth tried to press for the five added minutes but couldn’t get close to an equaliser before the whistle blew. HT: 0-1 The Lambs restarted the game, attacking the Castle End in the second half, and Ben Acquaye forced a corner on the left which Milnes Baptiste failed to get a touch onto but it dropped and skipped through the box. Harris picked up a card for a foul on Ryan Howley and the freekick from Milnes was somehow defensively prevented from crossing the line at the far post and was put behind for a corner. Rye collected the deep flagkick in the box and drilled a low shot but that too went out past the opposite post .Midway through the half from another Lyttle throw, Baptiste was forced to stretch high under pressure from Donnelly. And when a defensive mix up saw Donnelly able to go around Baptiste and into the box with the goal at his mercy, captain McAvoy bundled him to the ground leaving referee Paul Johnson no option other than to show a straight red and award a penalty. Tshikuna duly stepped up and planted it into the back of the net, sending Baptiste the wrong way (1-1, 69 mins) A low strike from Acquaye from 25 yards on 75 minutes nearly deflected past Baptiste but the keeper was able to adjust and smother the loose ball. Tamworth shuffled their pack with 15 minutes to go trying to take advantage of the additional man on the field, but were nearly caught on 84 minutes when a freekick was met by the head of Jack Cook and went out past the far post. Tshikuna then spotted an opening in the left channel on 86 minutes, driving his shot just wide of the mark. Substitute Tom McGlinchey and Donnelly played a neat one two on the edge of the area in the second of seven added minutes and the former’s strike drifted just wide of the right hand post. And in the next move Ricky Calder crossed for Lyttle to head on target but Wealdstone defenders were in the way of it’s path. At the other end substitute Luke Norris forced Singh to stop the ball on the line at his far post from his header off a freekick by Henry. But it was left to Lambs substitute Jake Hutchinson to have the final say, firing home from the edge of the box after a scramble to half clear the ball by the visitors, to the delight of the home faithful (2-1, 90+7 mins)There was still time for a couple of bookings when Barrett tangled with Tshikuna on the halfway line before the final whistle blew and the Lambs duly celebrated victory.
