Carlisle United were stunned by Aaron Henry’s late free-kick in a 1-1 draw against Wealdstone at Grosvenor Vale.

Henry’s pinpoint set-piece cancelled out David Ajiboye’s first-half strike as United failed to hang on to victory.

Adam Desbois twice denied Luke Norris in the tenth minute from close range after the hosts had quickly countered.

Harvey Bunker connected with Brad Nicholson, flicking towards goal, but Dante Baptiste was a match for the header.

Ajiboye gave United the lead in the 34th minute, racing onto Georgie Kelly’s pinpoint through ball and sliding the ball past Baptiste with ease.

Bunker looked to build on the Blues’ opener, firing in a side-footed effort from range which the Stones stopper parried.

Brad Nicholson had to be alive to the danger to head Jayden Mundle-Smith’s curling effort off the line.

The Stones upped the intensity at the start of the second half with Dion Conroy heading over Olufela Olomola’s cross.

Regan Linney tried to get into the game powering forward at pace, but his shot was tame and straight at Baptiste.

Kelly was inches away from giving United a second, nodding Ryan Galvin’s floated delivery wide.

The United captain had another chance to double the lead with the ball falling in the penalty area, which he slashed over the bar.

Stephen Wearne had two chances to score from within the penalty area, but Baptiste was down sharply to deny both efforts.

Desbois pulled off a superb save, getting low to push Micah Obiero’s deflected volley wide.

Henry pulled the game level in the 90th minute with a near-perfect free-kick which rebounded off the bar into the top corner.
